In this role, you will work closely with veterinarians to provide high-quality medical care to our animal patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting during surgeries, performing diagnostic tests, administering medications, monitoring anesthesia, and providing nursing care. You will also be involved in educating pet owners on proper animal care and maintaining accurate medical records. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep commitment to animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians during surgeries, dental, and medical procedures
- Obtain samples for and perform diagnostic tests, such as blood work, urinalysis, and radiographs
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian
- Induction of anesthesia, intubation, and anesthesia monitoring, including intra-operative and post-operative care
- Perform dental prophylaxis
- Provide nursing care, including wound management and fluid therapy
- Filling medications and client education regarding medications
- Educate pet owners on post-treatment care and general animal health
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Ensure a clean and sterile environment in the clinic
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Veterinary Technology from an accredited program
- Current state licensure as a Veterinary Technician
- Strong technical skills in laboratory and diagnostic procedures, dental/surgical and anesthesia
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
