In this role, you will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality care to animals. Your responsibilities will include handling and restraining animals, assisting during examinations and surgeries, performing basic laboratory tests, administering medications, and maintaining clean and organized workspaces. You will also be responsible for client communication, including educating pet owners on proper care and post-treatment instructions. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal welfare, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations and surgical procedures
- Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
- Obtain patient histories and vitals
- Perform basic laboratory tests and procedures
- Administer medications and treatments as directed
- Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in examination rooms and cages/kennels
- Manage inventory and restock supplies as needed
- Educate pet owners on animal care and post-treatment instructions
- Maintain accurate patient records and update charts
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a veterinary or animal care setting is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle animals of various sizes and temperaments safely
- Basic knowledge of animal care and medical terminology
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
